You need to conquer valleys, NPC or attack other players to get medals.
During the latest bug-fix by Evony it is more easy to gather some medals. My experience is pretty clear. If you attack the same place over and over again you'll not get as many than if you attack different places. It is almost impossible to do any tests, because it is something not even Evony really seems to be able to figure out. In the beta-period with Civony it was 100% medal-hunting, then a 99% chance to NOT get a medal in the beginning of Evony, and now it seems to be about 30-50% chance if you attack different places.
If you attack the same place over and over again its my experience you'll gather about 10-25%.
10-25% is a very large gap, but as said before, it is almost impossible to get serious data. To be a part of a datacollection please see below.
Some say the higher NPC's or valleys the higher is your medal-rate. I am not 100% sure about that, but it pretty clear you'll get better medals
from high lvl NPC's or a big army (your opponents).
Where to get the specific medals?
Actually thats unclear at the moment. Low lvl areas seems to give Lion, Cross and Rose-medals pretty often when medals drop, and by low lvl areas I mean 1-4 flats and valleys - NPC (Non-playing-character/computer) cities tend to give better medals, but thats not a fact. Thats ONLY my own experience. If you need medals like Honor, Courage, Wisdom and Freedom you better try valleys and flats from lvl 6-9 And NPC cities from lvl 5 and up.
Justice or Nation medals seems to drop in lvl 8-10 (mostly lvl 9 and 10). Its pretty hard to continuing attack lvl 9 or 10, but thats pretty much it. There's no way about it.
